Dr. Jules Kamin is an expert on economic damages and economic/financial aspects of liability.  He brings to the practice of forensic economics a unique combination of educational background, practical business and teaching experience, and a proven record of expert retention and testimony in over five hundred cases since 1987.  He conducts economic and financial analyses and testifies in a broad range of litigation categories, including lost profits of businesses; lost earnings of individuals related to wrongful termination, personal injury and wrongful death; valuation of business interests; intellectual property; securities and antitrust.  He has been retained by numerous leading law firms, major corporations and government agencies on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.  He has testified in hundreds of depositions and over sixty-five trials and arbitrations.

Jules holds academic degrees in business, economics and engineering.  He earned masters in business administration and doctor of philosophy from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.  His areas of concentration were business economics, finance, and management science.  Jules completed his doctoral research advanced the theory of optimal management of investment portfolios, advancing the work of three Nobel Laureates in economics, Harry Markowitz, Paul Samuelson and William Sharpe.  He also earned a bachelor of applied science in engineering physics (electrical option) and a master of arts in economics from the University of Toronto.

Jules has taught graduate finance courses at the University of California, Los Angeles and University of Southern California.  He previously held corporate positions in management of financial and economic analysis. Among these were vice president and manager of industrial economics for a major international bank, where he consulted on portfolio allocation decisions for the $30 billion commercial loan portfolio.  He managed research of credit risks and opportunities in the following industries: aerospace, agriculture, communications, energy, financial institutions, health care, high technology, insurance, real estate, transportation and utilities.
