Marty McDermut integrates 30 years of senior executive experience in all phases of finance, accounting, administrative, and general management. As both CFO and a Big Four partner, he has served numerous public and private companies with multi-state and international operations.
Marty’s experience extends across many industries, including manufacturing — high tech wireless, medical equipment, semiconductor electronics, retail, consumer products, energy, integrated oil, gas and geothermal, construction, medical services, and insurance. His background encompasses private-equity backed companies ranging from early stage and high growth to high-profile publicly-traded entities.
As CFO of publicly-traded (NASDAQ/AMEX) as well as emerging and middle-market, privately-held companies, he has established and managed banking relationships, M&A transactions, accounting and finance department systems, internal controls, and HR and IT areas that included selection implementation and development and operation of information systems.
Marty offers a wealth of knowledge about companies experiencing rapid and sustained growth, operational distress, turnaround, and debt restructurings. He has led multimillion financings in public and private equity transactions. He is proficient in profitability and cash flow improvement, business planning, strategic management, financial analysis general and cost accounting, managerial and financial reporting, Sarbanes Oxley 404 internal controls assessment and implementation, credit and collections, cash forecasting, inventory control, asset and working capital management, risk assessment, and insurance and benefit plan administration.
As partner in charge of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Los Angeles Entrepreneurial Advisory Services Group, Marty oversaw client service, strategic planning, and financial performance. His diverse practice included managing worldwide audits of multi-billion dollar international energy companies, $100+ million biotechnology and semiconductor manufacturers, and diverse entrepreneurial-oriented public and private entities. He also served in the auditing directorate of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ National Office.
Marty’s degrees include masters of business administration in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a bachelors in economics from the University of Southern California. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives Institute, and the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors.
